Yes, I mean being awareness not doing awareness. There is an important difference.

Whatever you are doing right now, stop wherever you are, get to a safe place, sit, and put all your everyday distractions away – yes, that means your laptop, phone, watch, Filofax, calendars, snacks, and drinks. Stop time literally and get into the moment – notice all your surroundings, your own physique, heart rate and breath, let your mind just think but don’t focus on it – just let the thoughts come and go.

We are not about the go into a deep state of meditation – I want you to experience awareness which is the entry to your own spirituality and that of the whole Universe that you are part of as one.

Have you stopped? Take in whatever you notice just where you are, and that you are becoming more present in the moment, even if your mind is taking a little longer to step down and it keeps you wanting to focus on what it’s saying and wants to draw you back into your head and less into your body where all your unique senses are waiting to explore with you. Don’t let it, but don’t fight it either, just become aware of the fact that it is quite persistent at every breath, how difficult it is to just stop and sit or lie down and be.

You can focus on something – a painting, an ornament or nature, out through the window or even on the print on your blouse or tie, just fully take in all the colours, sounds, and smells of your surroundings. This, in this moment of presence, is you connected to yourself and your senses in your outer body.

Don’t make sense of anything or even label it – just be aware of it in its full glory. Even if you are not in an ideal place and it is messy around you- that’s fine, be aware and find something that is peaceful and beautiful in the mess and just witness – don’t try and fix it and jump to tidying up or going elsewhere.

Just stay there and try to not bounce straight back into time in the past or the future. Being awareness means you, yes you, take a presence in the moment. To experience things fully, the mess, the cleanliness, the imperfections and perfections, the colours, sights, smells, touch – all these senses are your gift of just being. That’s the human in you.

Peaceful here, is it not?

Don’t be scared because it can have a major impact on the pace of your breath and heart rate, your mind, and how busy it seems to be. You will reach a state of silence soon, so keep observing whatever is present without thinking and making sense of things. Give your mind a well-deserved rest but try to keep awake. Many people can’t relax into this and fall asleep instead, to escape presence and this can confirm how tired they feel when they do stop. That’s you overworking each day either through thinking or doing to focus – this stillness and presence have been given lots of opportunities throughout your life, but you haven’t really noticed it, have you? There were moments when you could do this as a child effortlessly and you have simply forgotten that and how to access it, which is what we are doing here. You are more of a human being this way and less a human doer. But something in our history of humanity got changed and we became sick, only rising to pressures to be the best all the time, to perform better than your friends, to divide and rule and be unkind and set about the notion of the elitist being the most influential and wealthy making it about them and us.

Doing, doing, doing, allows you the escapism from knowing and feeling truth – your truth and the truth of the world we live in. That’s not the existence I want for myself or you and if there is a tiny glimpse of what peace means, it’s to be present in any given moment.

In this human doing state, you are connected to your manipulative and egotistic mind answering to the constant struggle of work and personal performance indicators, objectives, and endurance. When you are in human being and therefore being awareness, you are transcending into your essence, your spirit, your heart, and soul which is far more inclusive and loving than your mind. This source relies on kindness and love for each other and forgiveness. It’s rather beautiful here.

I will leave you for a little while with that perspective and process. Until next time. Enjoy and practice. One at a time we can collectively change our world and the world of all living beings.
